Economist Cameron Bagrie in the article above “The unretirement: But what’s the cost of pushing out your working life” makes his usual negative comments on NZ Superannuation.
Cameron is an economist and not a public policy expert. Unsustainable my foot, I am not keen on giving voice to this economist, but different views are part of the landscape, and unlike the social media platforms and Newstalk ZB station, with their bias voice, diversity of viewpoint is very important
He overlooks that NZ Superannuation is a brilliant piece of policy, simple, and cost effective. It deserves its place as the foundational component of all retirement income in NZ.
Bagrie and others need to recognize this is a smart piece of legislation,
nNo alternatives come near to its qualities, we are the smart country amongst the OECD in how we have packaged NZ Superannuation and Kiwi Saver.
New Zealand Superannuation has become a generational transfer entitlement wrapped around family, equity and wellbeing principles.
